Supervision – Services by Johannes Faupel

I offer supervision for individuals with personnel responsibilities as well as those responsible for the health, well-being, and lives of others.

What is Supervision?

Supervision (from the Latin super = above and videre = to see) is a form of professional counseling and guidance for individuals, teams, and organizations.

What are the goals of supervision?

The primary goals of supervision include gaining clarity about responsibilities and workflows in teams, restoring order within organizations, and establishing self-care and self-management practices for individuals.

How often should one engage in supervision?

Depending on the working model and organizational structure, I recommend the following frequencies:

Supervision frequency for leaders

I recommend in-person supervision once a month, with additional online sessions as needed.

Supervision frequency for teams

Supervision for teams has proven beneficial once or twice a month.

What topics are discussed in supervision?

In team supervision, any topic related to the team’s tasks can be discussed, including:

  • Team communication
  • Team dynamics
  • Team conflicts
  • The team’s role within the organization
  • Internal and external partners, service providers, customers, clients, and those under the team’s care

Are personal issues addressed in team or group supervision?

No, personal issues are discussed only in individual supervision sessions for reasons of privacy and integrity.

Is a problem necessary for supervision?

Problems can and should be discussed in supervision, with the aim of ensuring a smooth and functional workflow within the team. However, it is perfectly fine if no specific problem exists. In such cases, I find it useful to extensively discuss what is working well within the team.

This focus shifts perspectives in a way that benefits everyone.

Where does my supervision take place?

In principle, I conduct supervision at the premises of the businesses and clinics that commission my services.
